Conserving Land

The Kaniksu Land Trust (then Clark Fork – Pend Oreille Conservancy) was organized in 2002 to work with landowners to protect the land, water and wildlife in Bonner County, Idaho and Sanders County, Montana. In 2012 we changed our name to the Kaniksu Land Trust and expanded our service area to include Boundary County, Idaho.

A land trust is a tax-exempt 501c3 charity that is composed of local citizens and other groups concerned with natural resources and conservation. Land trusts and private landowners work together as partners to protect land with conservation easements and other voluntary conservation methods.

KLT uses two primary methods to conserve open space. Please click the appropriate link for more information:

Conservation Easement

Land Donation

There are other methods used by KLT to permanently protect important land. If you are interested in additional information, please contact the staff at (208) 263-9471 or e-mail: info@kaniksu.org.
