Dan Krabacher holds advanced degrees in educational psychology and school psychology and most recently served as school psychologist in the Lake Pend Oreille School District in Bonner County, Idaho. He spent 19 years working for the international organization Outward Bound in all aspects of programming and management, and ultimately as Director of Operations on the west coast of the United States. When at Outward Bound, he served on the interagency Lower Deschutes River Management Plan Committee, which developed the plan for Oregon’s Lower Deschutes Wild and Scenic River. In 1998 Dan was awarded the prestigious Josh Miner Award, given by Outward Bound USA for outstanding leadership and service. He has served as chief executive officer for CEDU Family of Services, a for-profit company providing residential educational services for youth in multiple schools and programs in the western United States.
Dan’s community service has included being on the Strategic Planning Committee for the City of Sandpoint, a lacrosse coach, and a tutor. He currently leads the Bonner County Youth Accountability Board, a diversion program that collaborates with the local juvenile justice system in serving youth, and is a member of the Community Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention, a community based multi-agency partnership focused on encouraging healthy life choices amongst community youth.
Dan has had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and adventure that has taken him to mountains, deserts, and seas throughout North America, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and South America. He is married to his best friend and love of his life, Cate Huisman, with whom he has two perfect adult children, Sarah and Matt, and a less than perfect dachshund, Heidi.
